Cyprus, Cyprus
Cyprus is a wonderful holiday destination with a rich and diverse history and stunning natural beauty. Its attractive, rugged coastline is dotted with secluded coves and splendid beaches whilst inland there are rolling hills, traditional villages and the incomparable Troodos Mountains.
Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and everywhere you go you’ll find friendly, helpful Cypriots (English is widely spoken) who are very proud of their cultural heritage. Nicosia, the capital, is the largest city and well worth a visit to see its historic city walls and churches.
Limassol was built between two ancient Greek cities,
Amathus and Curium (also known as Kourion). Its historical centre is located
around its medieval Limassol Castle and the Old Port. Today the city spreads
along the Mediterranean coast and has extended much farther than the castle and
port, with its suburbs stretching along the coast to Amathus. To the west of
the city is Akrotiri, one of the two British Overseas Territories on the island.
