Dalyan, Turkey | | | With
its wonderful location alongside the River Dalyan and pine-clad hills, and close
to the point where the river meets the Mediterranean, Dalyan, an attractive village
with genuine Turkish character, has everything you need for a perfect holiday.
Dalyans fabulous beach is a long curve of sand and crystal clear waters
which never gets crowded because of the conservation status of the area (part
of the beach is home to the rare loggerhead turtle). The beach has just a few
bars which are ideal for a snack and a cooling drink after a leisurely swim. Getting
to the beach is as much fun as being on it. You catch a small river-boat from
the harbour close to the hotel and meander down to the beach in about 30 minutes,
passing the famous Lycian rock tombs on the way. Its a great way to get
a tan before you actually get on the beach! Dalyan itself is very laid-back and
relatively uncommercial but, at the same time, theres night-life in the
shape of music-bars and a disco, a good selection of shops and restaurants, an
attractive harbourfront and a lively weekly market. | | It
would be difficult to find a friendlier, more welcoming hotel than the Calypso
and were delighted to feature the hotel again in 2010. The staff go out
of their way to make sure that Travel One guests have a great holiday and, from
the moment you arrive, youre made to feel at home. Returning guests always
tell us that at the Calypso youre more of a friend than a hotel client.
The hotel itself enjoys a wonderfully peaceful location overlooking the River
Dalyan (with its own private jetty) but its less than a 15 minute stroll
along the river bank promenade to the lively centre of Dalyan. Its a bungalow-style
hotel with simple but comfortable bedrooms, all of which are air-conditioned (approx
£3 per day supplement payable locally if used) and all with private shower,
wc (& hairdryer) and terrace. Theres an al fresco dining area where
Turkish and international dishes are served, a swimming pool, a pool bar, a large
sun terrace with sunbeds and parasols and an open-till-late snack bar. Its
all very informal, very, very friendly and the perfect place to enjoy a memorable
holiday. | TURKEY VISA
